The journal publishes original research that is methodologically robust, ethically sound, and of direct relevance to academics, clinicians, educators, and policymakers worldwide.

JSHE was founded on the conviction that high-quality sports and health research must be freely accessible without subscription barriers to every researcher, practitioner, coach, and institution, regardless of geographic or economic circumstance. Manuscripts are accepted on a continuous, rolling basis and published promptly upon acceptance, ensuring that the research community benefits from new findings without unnecessary delay. JSHE employs a rigorous double-blind peer review model and targets an acceptance rate of 30% or below to maintain scientific excellence. The journal assigns article-level Digital Object Identifiers (DOIs) through Crossref to every published manuscript and is committed to long-term digital preservation through the PKP Preservation Network, LOCKSS, and CLOCKSS.
